News Release from the Cooper County Collector
You may now pay your property taxes on a quarterly basis.
Sign up now to pay your 2009 Cooper County real estate taxes on a quarterly installment basis. This is a free service offered by the Cooper County Collector for your convenience. This payment plan only applies to paying the current year in advance. No delinquent taxes qualify for the plan.
Your payments will be based on the amount you paid for your 2008 real estate tax. This year there will be 2 quarterly installments with the last and final installment being the balance of the tax due. Your 2009 statement will show the amount that has been prepaid and the balance due. Taxes not paid in full by December 31st will result in late penalties and fees being charged on the full amount and will be the responsibility of the tax payer, and the payment plan will be terminated. In following years, there will be 3 quarterly payments with the last and final installment being the balance of the tax due.
We will accept your installment payments in the form of cash, check, or money order. Credit card payments cannot be paid on installment payments. If a check is returned for insufficient funds, a $25 fee will apply, and the installment plan will be terminated.
Payment plans will be set up for each individual account, and you will receive a coupon sheet for each account. You must have no delinquent taxes on the accounts you wish to set up on the plan. For example, all 2008 and prior taxes must be paid before enrolling in a payment plan for your 2009 taxes.
If you currently escrow your real estate taxes with a mortgage company or related servicing company, you will not be able to set up a real estate payment plan for that parcel. Each parcel will have its own payment plan, regardless of the number of parcels you own and wish to sign up for.
You do not have to re-apply each year. Coupons will be mailed to you each year showing your new payment amount, based on your previous year’s taxes paid. If you wish to cancel, amend or suspend an installment plan, you must submit your request in writing no less than 5 working days before the due date to the Cooper County Collector to allow time for processing.
You will need to contact the Cooper County Collector’s office to obtain a contract so we may get the plan set up for you. Once you are set up, you will get your coupons with a portion to be included with your payment.
For additional questions, feel free to contact the Collector’s office at 660-882-2584 or email us at cnauman@classicnet.net or in writing to Cooper County Collector, 200 Main Street Room 27, Boonville MO 65233.
