October 18, 2002 Board Meeting Minutes

Board Members Attending: JoAnn Sullivan-Chair, Bill Sullivan, David Haun, Harry Stone, and Art Schneider

Secretary/Treasurer Darin Starr, absent, therefore there were no minutes or treasurer’s report.

OLD BUSINESS:

Art Schneider reported on the Tourism Grants just received.

$200.00 for Mo-river.net calendars

$3640.00 for an Internship to:

Check and up-date URL’s

List businesses and lodgings with rates

Add 25 tourism sites and Artists

Add 25 businesses with web sites and link to MRN

Web page Contest:

Darin was to contact Rachel Miles, 4-H specialist in Saline and Howard Counties and see if she would send information with her next mail-out. Cindy Thomas did send info with her last mail-out.

Make a poster to include in the November Chamber of Commerce newsletter.

Membership:

Webpage list is up-to-date and now shows "Paid" (on those who have). Still need to find a couple or so, that we have lost email contact with.

Corporate Sponsors:

The letters are ready and will be sent ASAP.

Advertising:

JoAnn suggested that every month nowadays has some kind of emphasis, i.e. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month; February is Black History Month, etc., and that we could run ads on the radio referring people to specific information on MRN dealing with the "Subject of the Month".

Expanding our Coverage:

Art suggested that we could purchase rubber stamps with the MRN logo and URL and provide them to high-volume mailing businesses that would then stamp their out-going mail with our logo. Bill Sullivan made the motion and David Haun 2d, to buy six (6) stamps for this purpose. Motion carried.

NEW BUSINESS:

Discussion on reporting of election results. Board decided to just put up a link to the Secretary of State’s election results page.
