Local Church History
Boonville was a small town of 2800 in 1853 when the German Evangelical Congregation was organized at the present site at Seventh and Spring Streets. It later became a member of the "Evangelical Synod" in 1898. After several denominational mergers over the years, in 1957 our congregation became a part of the United Church of Christ and later adopted the name of Evangelical United Church of Christ. On the fiftieth anniversary of the founding, which was November 15, 1903, the parsonage was dedicated. On April 24, 1954, the education building was added to the south of the church. Christian Education
Our congregation is committed to continued Christian Education for its members. At baptism, parents, sponsors, the candidate, and the congregation promise to begin the life-long learning that accompanies a Christian's responsibility as a faithful member of the universal Church. Fellowship & Ministry
Evangelical United Church of Christ has a very active fellowship program which includes the Junior and Senior High Youth Groups, the Young at Heart Group, Women's Fellowship, Men's Breakfast, and various All-Church Fellowship events throughout the year. Our special ministries include a Shepherding Program which visits the homebound, free Devotional Guides, special time for the children during worship, and various choirs - Women's, Mixed (men and women), and Children's. Our members are very active in community service programs. Our Fellowship Hall is home to a number of community groups, and is available for use by the community.
