630 E. Spring St.

The structure is thought to have been built by Marcus Williams, local builder and sheriff, by slave labor in the period 1848-50.  The original environment contained besides the barn, a summer kitchen, well, numerous small buildings interconnected by pink brick walks.   Only the barn and one brick walk remain.  There are chimneys on either side of the roof and a central porch with pediment supported by four fluted columns.  The front door is flanked by engaged columns and has a transom and sidelights.  The east side has a porch with lattice enclosure and engaged columns.  There are 2 basement entrances.   The board and batten barn in the rear is used as a garage and has a drive with access from 7th street.
