727 E. Spring
Built in the late 1870s, this frame residence was probably built for Mary and Juliet Massie. The steeply pitched gable roofs are embellished by decorative stickwork in the ends and drop pendants on the southwest and southeast corners of the eaves. The original one-story, one bay polygonal vestibule has been replaces by a large open porch which extends across the south and wraps around the southwest corner. The entrance has a transom. Won the west are 2 gable dormers over the rear ell. On the first story of the rear is an inset porch and concrete stoop. Additions include rebuilding the roof and porch, a basement, and converting the structure into multiple dwellings. There is a drive off 8th St. to the rear of the lot.
