801 E. Spring

In 1878 A.M. Koontz, a prominent Main Street grocer, had the present Italianate structure built.  In the front entrance transom appears the name “A.M. Koontz” in red glass.   A front door red window glass remained in existence until recently.   The entrance has a hip roof and a one-bay, one-story porch with frame square pos on a concrete slab.  The south façade has a one-story polygonal bay window.  There is a two-story brick ell and a pent roofed frame addition to the northeast.  The frame section is covered with siding and is one room and a carport.  A herringbone walk remains on the south and west.   A concrete drive gives access from the carport to Spring Street.
