E. High
This structure was built in the late 1820’s by R. P. Clark, the
first circuit clerk of Cooper County. It
is referred to in Levens and Drake history of the County as one of the oldest
houses in Boonville. In the
1840’s the property included a two-story brick house and a smaller frame
house. The primary façade has a
one-story porch on the southeast with brick square columns.
On the west façade the basement entrance is at the street level.
The first story porch is supported by square brick columns.
Running the length of the rear is a two-story porch.
The original primary façade is the west façade.
This change in orientation makes a big difference in the architectural
quality of the house.
