The house was
built by Charles Christian Bell, one of the most prominent men in Boonville in
the 1880’s. He was engaged first
in the business pf packing and shipping apples.
He was given the title of “Missouri’s Apple King” in 1885.
He was on the Boonville City Council and served as Mayor from 1882-1888.
Added in 1891, the towers are the most outstanding quality of the house.
The tower on the northeast is 3 stories with a dome roof. The northwest tower is two-and-one-half stories with a bell
dome. Recent construction rebuilt
the entrance and porch on the north. Above
this area is a second story sunroom. On
the south is an Eastlake one-story porch and a one-story board and batten
addition which contains the garages. An
alley to the south gives access to a concrete drive and the attached garages.
A herringbone brick patio is to the north and continues to the east as a
walk.
