The board accepted the report. New board members start their terms in September 1998.

Policy For Placing Pages on Mo-River.Net Server:   This item received considerable discussion. Nick Clark, in reporting, suggested the original policy taken from the LLION CIN should have a statement on editing and also suggested that a frame format be adopted to provide a "consistent and persistent" format for all Mo-River.Net generated pages. He also suggested a banner recognizing businesses or organizations underwriting Mo-River.Net.

Jo Ann Sullivan also suggested material be family oriented. Board members suggested a number of word changes and additions and deletions to the initial proposal. The finalized proposal is below. All members are asked to comment on the proposal before the September 18 board meeting so the board may consider all input before adopting a policy.

PROPOSED Mo-River.Net Group or Organization Community Information Policy

1. Any business, group or organization can be an information provider to Mo-River.Net, but it must be understood that Mo-River.Net is an education/information 501(C)3 and is non-commercial. This means there can be no advertising, but businesses may be listed.

2. Think about the kind of information that you want to supply. Use the Policies and Guidelines information (at the end of this page) to help you see how your information should be organized and put together and choose the options that will best serve your group or organization.

3. All information stored and submitted to Mo-River.Net should conform to the Community Network Policies and Guidelines at the end of this page.

4. If you and your business, group or organization agree to the above statement, then you should choose a member to serve as the information provider. The person will be the one who submits your information to Mo-River.Net. There should be only one information provider per organization.

The following guidelines and procedures apply to all information that is put on the Mo-River.Net system:

1)  All information stored must conform to the Acceptable Use Policy.

2)  Type of information that can be put on Mo-River.Net:

3) All those who have the authority to place pages on the web may bring any questionable content to the board for resolution.

4) Information may be edited by Mo-River.Net to correct spelling and grammar.

5) All material stored will be periodically reviewed by the board.

Santa Fe Trail Request: Eva Weston requested Mo-River.Net have a booth and staffing at Santa Fe Trails Day in September in New Franklin. A date was not provided. Bill Wood said he would staff a booth and requested the secretary contact Eva on date and time. Bill Sullivan volunteered the chamber booth and also to have the Mo-River.Net banner for the event.

Missouri State Cornhusking Festival: This will be held September 23-24 in Marshall. There was an interest in the Marshall Chamber having Mo-River.Net flyers to hand out for the event. Art Schneider volunteered to contact Pat Jackson and request the flyer text be sent to Darin Starr for a brochure to be made. Ruthie Cramer suggested this might be something the Chamber Tourism Committee would be interested in promoting. Also, there are many cultural sites in Saline County that could be placed on the web and she requested assistance from Internet Master volunteers. Darin Starr will work with her on this.

Membership / Corporate Sponsorship Proposal: Bill Wood submitted a proposal to the board that would require some changes in the by-laws. The proposal will be discussed at the September board meeting. The proposal:

November 12 Cooper County Council of Agency Presentation at Noon:  Nick Clark volunteered to do a 10 to 15 minute presentation on Mo-River.Net at the council’s November meeting. Art Schneider agreed to locate a laptop and computer projector for the program.

Future Meeting Dates, Times and Locations: Tabled until September.

All nominees were elected.

Resignation: Bill Sullivan reported that Pat Jackson is resigning from the board, effective immediately. A replacement for Pat will be selected at the September meeting.
