MO-RIVER.NET BOARD MINUTES |
December 15, 1999
Boonslick Sheltered Workshop/Cooper County Extension Center,
Boonville, MO
Board members present: Harry
Stone, Joann Sullivan, Darin Starr, Jene Crook
New Mo-River.Net member present: Darlene Kraus
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by President Darin
Starr at 9:05.
Minutes: JoAnn Sullivan moved and Harry Stone seconded
that the minutes be approved as circulated. Motion carried.
Treasurer's Report: Jene Crook reported one
renewal and two new members. After payment of the bills for the calendar cards prepared by
Harry Stone, the treasury stands at $801.08.
Intern Program: Darin Starr reported on the
Missouri Valley College intern program. We will have the services of one intern named
Enrique Lopez who is a computer science specialist. He is in finals but will
contact Darin to work up the necessary practicum. The Saline
County Extension center now has its new computers so they should have room for him to
work.
Emergency Management Memorandum: Darin Starr
reported for Art Schneider that Tom White
is interested in using Mo-River.Net as an emergency information service and is working on
a memorandum of agreement.
Marshall Technology Demonstration: Darin Starr reported
that there will be a technology demonstration in Marshall on Friday, January 14. It will
be open to the public. The demonstration will feature technology from Galaxy Cable and its
use in distance learning. Galaxy Cable is in the process of installing cable modems and
Sweet Springs should have them in six to eight months.
Calendar Program: Discussion of the calendar was postponed until we
adjourn to work on the site online. Mark Eslick has purchased one and is willing to donate
it. Harry Stone has worked with it and is the only one currently
with a working password.
After difficulties accessing the internet at the Sheltered Workshop, the meeting was
adjourned to the Cooper County Extension Center to review the website.
At the Cooper County Extension Center, the new calendar program was reviewed. It looks
functional and the price is much better than the first program we considered. The process
for listing events allows anyone to submit events. After a submission,an authorized member
of Mo-River.Net is notified via e-mail to review the submission and approve it for
inclusion in the calendar. It would be best to have one person from each county authorized
to make approvals.
Website improvement: After approval of the calendar, the remainder of the
meeting was spent reviewing the website for improvements, corrections and potential
additions.
Next Meeting: The next board meeting will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the
Cooper County Extension Center Friday, January 21.
Respectfully Submitted,
Jene Crook
Secretary-treasurer
