MO-RIVER.NET BOARD MINUTES
May 19, 2000
Cooper County Extension Center

Boonville, MO

Members Present: Harry Stone, Bill Wood, JoAnn Sullivan,  Darin Starr, Jene Crook

Others Present: Gu-Ree Beam

Call to Order:The meeting was called to order by President Darin Starr at 10:30 am Friday morning, May 19, at the Boonville Extension Center in Boonville, Missouri.

Minutes of the February meeting were approved.

Darin reported briefly on the CIN 2000 meeting. It was targeted more to users this time rather than to the programmers and technology people. There was a session on E-commerce that was helpful. Darin recommended we look at the website for the City of Albany. There were also useful sessions on Geographic Information Systems and Virtual Emergency Systems. Springfield is moving in the direction of placing emergency preparedness information on the internet, but they are wrestling with the question of what information is appropriate and where privacy issues come into play. Darin will try to bring more information from the conference to the next board meeting.

The MACIN update was postponed until Art Schneider can be present.

Mo-River.Net Commerial: Darin indicated that he has been unable to contact Ron Nedblake about finalizing the Mo-River.Net commercial. JoAnn has Cooper County information on the site in good shape and the home page in good shape although the information on the other counties needs work yet. We should be ready to proceed with the commercial as soon as we can get everyone together.

Darin mentioned that he was uncertain about the final appropriations for Missouri Express and Community Connection in the budget that was passed before the state legislature adjourned. There had been funds proposed unless they fell victim to last minute political maneuvering.

Darin noted that he has been asked to speak to the Marshall Interagency Council about Mo-River.Net. The participating agencies may want web pages and may need assistance with them.

The next meeting of the Board will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, June 16, 2000, at the Boonville Extension Center.

Bill Wood moved and JoAnn Sullivan seconded that the meeting adjourn. Motion carried.

Respectfully Submitted,

Jene Crook
Secretary-treasurer
