MO-RIVER.NET BOARD MINUTES
November 17, 2000
Cooper County Extension Center
Boonville, MO
Members Present: Darin Starr, Art Schneider, Harry Stone and Jene Crook.
Call to order: President Darin Starr called the meeting to order at 10:30 a.m.
Minutes: Minutes of the October meeting will be made available in December.
Treasurer's Report: Treasurer's report will be made in December
ELECTION NIGHT: The board reviewed election night and the efforts to post
election results. Darin indicated that the evening went reasonably well but he
needed more help. Art Schneider reported that there had been over 1,000 hits
recorded among the three web sites. It was noted that the state had really improved
their web site. It was suggested that we make some signs (maybe 2' by 2') to post
at each polling location for the next election to let voters know where to look for the
results. Darin indicated that he had received some positive comments about the
site.
The Web Page Contest was discussed. It was decided to have a single contest that
covers all three counties. There will be First, Second and Third prizes for each age
level plus one overall grand prize. The time frame will be as follows:
January 19, 2001 contestant's deadline for submitting a subject
April 6, 2001 contestant's deadline for submitting the web page
April 23, 2001 our deadline for announcing winners
All web pages will be required to be submitted via e-mail or on a floppy disk or CD.
We will need to run two ads about the contest in the papers for Boonville, Fayette,
Glasgow, Marshall, Slater, Sweet Springs and Otterville. We will try to run the ads
December 5 and January 9. In addition, Darin will contact the Saline County
Schools while Art will contact Cooper and Howard County Schools. They will send
letters to the school principals. Darin will also create a flyer about the contest.
Harry Stone noted that we need to bet Sweet Springs and Slater Churches listed on
the web site.
We need a letter for corporate sponsorship available to send to area businesses
such as Socket Internet Services.
Darin updated us on the commercial. He has forwarded the information to Ron
Nedblake and is waiting to hear from them.
Art reminded the group that we planned to hold elections in December but there has
been little change in the membership and attendance. Do we want to change the
by-laws to include a December election, or do we want to carry over now until July?
Jene Crook agreed to have an updated membership list for the December meeting.
The next meeting will be December 22, 2000 instead of December 15. Jene will
send advance notice of the change and request that the membership respond with
meeting preferences, including whether evening meetings would attract more
attendence and participation.
The meeting was adjourned.
