Old Business
Tourism Grant: The Board discussed whether we wanted to seek a Tourism Grant next year and the consensus was that we will. The probable focus of a new grant would be Boonvilles Historic Districts, sites and structures.
Downtown Art Project Art explained that the project is going very well. Matching funds donations for the Isle of Capri $5000 commitment coming in very well.Membership Jo Ann reported that she had now up-dated the By-Laws to reflect our membership dues year as January 1, through December 31. The Board had authorized this amendment earlier.
New Business:
Art described the Famous-Barr Charity Day project he is working on for the Downtown Art Project. He explained that it could be a fundraiser, but that it would only be promoted in Columbia to avoid a negative impact on Boonville businesses. The Board consensus was that we would pass on attempting to use this as a fundraiser.
JoAnn reported that Ed Scrivner had invited us to set up a booth at the Veterans SuperMart to be held at the High School Commons on October 18th. Harry Stone moved and David Haun seconded a motion to do so. Motion passed.
JoAnn initiated discussion on the need to develop a reliable back-up system for mo-river.net. We discussed "streaming backup", and CD-ROM backup, etc. Art called an associate at the Information Technology section at University Extension for more accurate information on this subject. We will proceed with a backup system just as soon as we receive enough guidance to do so.
Jo Ann mentioned the up-coming New Lebanon festival taking place on September 13th, and the Board consensus was that we should have a presence there, at least with brochures and card/calendars.
Don and Barbara Stevens paid dues and joined MRN! Welcome to our group!
No further business appearing, meeting was adjourned.
