Members Present: Don Stevens, David Haun, JoAnn Sullivan, Harry Stone, and Art Schneider
Call to Order: JoAnn Sullivan called the meeting to order at 10:37 a.m.
Minutes: November minutes were unavailable due to health of board secretary.
Treasurer’s Report: Harry Stone reported $407.06 in checking account. No unpaid bills.
Tourism grant: Art and Harry have not received the paperwork from the city. The grant was accepted by the city council. It will fund 100 hours at $7 an hour for an intern plus fringe.
New members: There was significant discussion on the need to secure additional membership to increase potential contributions to the content of Mo-River.Net and to further promote expansion and development. Emphasis is on content contribution rather than monetary support.
During discussion the possibility of a web club also was mentioned. Harry Stone noted the Boonslick Senior Center recently received new computers and the center is interested in web classes. Harry’s daughter works at the center. He will work with her and JoAnn to promote a meeting at 7 p.m. January 15 at the Boonslick Senior Center. The meeting will be open to all. At the meeting participants will be asked the kinds of training and programs desired. The meeting would be jointly sponsored by the Boonslick Senior Center and Mo-River. Net.
Reorganization of History Page: JoAnn noted the home page for history has grown significantly. She said she would like to reorganize the page to categorize and to load faster. Members concurred. Art Schneider noted that the 25 historic points in Boonville were not on the history page, but the Arts and the Tourism and Recreation pages. He will send JoAnn the URL.
Additional Pages: Art Schneider said he would contact Don Day, Extension information technology/natural resources specialist, to discuss a class on using Explore to design web pages.
Hannah Cole Web Page: Art reported that at the last Tourism Commission meeting he was asked if Mo-River.Net would be putting up a page on the Lewis & Clark, Heritage Days and Hannah Cole celebrations. He said that the board had discussed this and was awaiting information so this could be done. Art also noted that the commission felt strongly that the restaurant and lodging facilities that were funded by the grant this past year should be linked from the page.
Backup of Mo-River.Net: Discussion on purchasing Universal Bus Service to download files on Mo-River.Net in case of a virus. Art had Darlene Kraus, Cooper county extension center, check on how many kb are on Mo-River.Net. Capacity of UBS is256 kb. Darlene found 93,485 kb!!! Art and Darlene will see if this can be stored on a CD-ROM.
Adjourned: Meeting adjourned at 11:30 a.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Art Schneider
