(Counter reset on 1 July)June 18, 2004
Board members attending: JoAnn Sullivan, presiding, Harry Stone, Bill Sullivan, Art Schneider, and David Haun.
Visitors: Stan Serck and Tim Grissom
Secretarys Report: Accepted as presented
Treasurers Report: Filed for reference as presented.
Old Business:
Tourism Grant: 80 properties are completed and up. Jackie Bruner is still working. Amanda still has about 30 hours left and these hours need to be used up by the end of July. Pictures to go with the descriptions are also now up.
Corporate Sponsors: Stan Serck is a new Corporate Sponsor, as is Boonville General Rental and two of their other businesses. As soon as the Steinhouse is back open and operating, they intend to become a Corporate Sponsor as well. General discussion about how to best display the Corporate Sponsors on the MRN Home Page.
Links: JoAnn, Harry, and others are still working on some of these problems as they can.
Other old business: The National Guard page is now up on MRN. Darlene is checking on Search Engine problems concerning MRN. Mark Eslick is still working on the possibility of putting up simple web sites, perhaps with at least one email account for businesses that want a web presence. The Computer classes are still going on, although there are now only 5 students, and they not all present at the same time.
NEW BUSINESS:
Jana Hawley was supposed to come to the meeting today, but was unable to make it. Art has asked her to help with search engines and web sites. Art said that the State Historical Society has Brownlee Funds that may be awarded for Historic projects.
JoAnn reminded the board that we still need volunteers from Howard and Saline Counties. Almost nothing is being done on those counties due to lack of information. There is a new Executive Director at the Marshall Chamber of Commerce that might be a potential volunteer.
Stipend Volunteer(s): Now that we have the money to hire a stipend volunteer, we need to come up with a position description and a list of projects and/or expectations. These could include, but not necessarily be limited to the following:
1) Check and repair links
2) Identify sites relevant to our three counties for Google.
3) Up-date the churches pages
4) Up-date the Child Care pages
5) The Historic Preservation committee (Susan Johnston, Chair) wants a web page.
There was discussion about hourly pay, but no decision was reached.
The Webmasters list on MRN is probably not current and needs to be brought up to date.
No further business appearing, meeting was adjourned.
Minutes recorded and transcribed by Bill Sullivan, Secretary
