April 15, 2005

Board members attending: JoAnn Sullivan, presiding; Bill Sullivan, Art Schneider and Pete Rodman

Secretary’s Report: Accepted as presented.

Treasurer’s Report: Accepted pending some questions.

OLD BUSINESS: (1) Stipened Volunteer Report: Margie and Winky Fredrich are working on a page/site for Pilot Grove and will put it on MRN under Cooper County Cities and Towns. (2) Tourism: Steve Welliver is gone, but Amanda is back. She will be putting up pictures as soon as the trees leaf out a little more. Jim Higbee has reported an inaccuracy on the 615 Locust Street entry and it is being corrected. (3) Cooper County page: Bill Embry is continuing to send material for the county site. Paul Milne is also providing material. We discussed that the sheriff could use MRN for the posting of sexual offenders that is required/permitted by law and needs to be posted. (4) Other old Business: None

NEW BUSINESS: (1) Correspondence: JoAnn received a message from Cynthia Crawford that Marshall had passed a Tourism Tax. Art suggested that perhaps MRN could access some of that money to help get more Saline County information into MRN.

(2) Dream Weaver: DW and Front Page are compatible and material put up using DW can be edited using Front Page. Jana Hawley has said she could start this fall with a student project on MRN. Art will follow up with Jana. (3) Pete is using DW and says that it has a tutorial which he will share. University Extension won’t support DW yet, probably because of its higher learning curve. (4) Jason Bishop is creating a site for the YMCA. They will probably put up their own site, but MRN could link to it. (5) JoAnn found and linked to a George Calib Bingham site, but it isn’t very good. The State Historical Society has some Binghams, but can’t display them. (6) Pete said that Microsoft Publisher has an html editor, but that it has problems and is not worth using.

No further business appearing, meeting was adjourned.
